HEALING PERIOD

The complete healing process for your lips typically spans 7 days, during which you should follow these guidelines:

  • Lip Moisturisation: Apply ointment or lip balm to your lips 3-4 times a day, particularly when they feel dry or chapped.

  • Lymph Fluid Maintenance: Regularly clean away lymph fluid from your lips using a baby wipe to prevent it from drying and forming crusts.

  • Lip Washing: When washing your lips, use lukewarm or cold water only, as hot water may cause discomfort.

  • Product Application: After the initial 7 days, you are free to wear lip products as desired.

DO-NOT

  • Touching or Rubbing: Avoid touching or rubbing your healing lips, as this can introduce contaminants and increase the risk of infection.

  • Lip Exfoliation: Do not exfoliate your lips for the first 7 days.

  • Smoking or Vaping: Avoid smoking or vaping for the initial 48 hours after the procedure.

  • Application of Active Serums: Do not use active serums on your lips during the healing process.

  • Intense Exercise: It's best to avoid intense exercise for the first 48 hours.

  • Whitening Toothpaste with Peroxide: Refrain from using toothpaste containing peroxide on your lips.

  • Consuming Oily/Spicy Foods: Avoid oily or spicy foods for the initial 48 hours.

  • Kissing Your Partner or Pets: For the first 24 hours, avoid kissing your partner or pets on the lips.

  • Direct Sunlight Exposure: Stay out of direct sunlight for 2 weeks following the procedure, and be sure to use SPF protection when you do go out in the sun.

TRUST THE PROCESS

  • Bruising should subside within 30-60 minutes.

  • Swelling typically diminishes within 1-2 days.

  • From days 3-7, you may experience dry lips; please avoid picking the skin and let it naturally flake off.

Please exercise patience during healing, as it takes 6-8 weeks for the colour to fully develop. It's normal for the colour to initially appear lighter before settling.

The colour will heal to be approximately 40-60% lighter than the initial application and can last anywhere from 1-3 years.

During the healing process, you may experience

  • Swelling, which can be relieved with ice packs.

  • Itching, which can be eased with aftercare balm.

  • Scabbing, which may occur and can also be managed with aftercare balm.

  • Light bruising and a feeling of dry tightness.

If you notice a too dark or slightly uneven appearance, don't worry. Within 2-7 days, the darkness will fade, and as swelling subsides, unevenness often disappears. If any issues persist after 4 weeks, adjustments can be made during the touch-up appointment.

Colour change or loss is common as the procedure area heals. The colour will lighten and may seem to vanish, but this can be addressed during the touch-up appointment. It's crucial to let the procedure area fully heal, which typically takes at least 6 weeks.

Touch-up appointments may be needed months or years later, typically 1 to 4 years after the initial procedure. Factors such as skin type, medications, and sun exposure can influence this. We recommend a touch-up 6-8 weeks after the first session and periodic touch-ups every few years to maintain a fresh and beautiful look.
